WhatsApp Testing ‘Online’ Status Hiding Feature on Android

WhatsApp

Last November, WhatsApp introduced the feature to hide your “Last seen” from explicit contacts, yet progress toward security didn’t stop there.

This month, the application reported a feature that will hide your ‘online’ status from selected contacts or from everybody. The option will soon be available on WhatsApp Beta for Android.

As indicated by WABetainfo, Android form 2.22.16.12 would permit users to get to another privacy setting. Users will be able to use the new feature by opening the application and exploring Settings > Account > Privacy > Last seen and uncovers an option to select who can see you when you’re online.

The choice is straightforwardly connected to the Last seen setting as you can pick whether to have everybody know your availability or just the people who can see your last seen.

Good or Bad?

The interlinking of the last seen with the online status could appear to be odd yet it seems OK. On the off chance that you don’t want somebody should see your last seen, then you would also don’t want that they should see your online status. So it saves the problem of designing two unique settings.

It appears to be a direct expansion, best case scenario. However, that’s a feature that will further bridge the gap between the official WhatsApp application and mods like GB WhatsApp, which users might introduce for additional privacy choices. It’s not only the imitations that the update addresses — featured packed competitors like Telegram have had comparable features for quite a while. So while it’s great to see it at last show up on WhatsApp, the new feature is still in beta. You’ll need to hold on until it hits the app stores to use it.
